Catastrophe Theory — The Seven Elementary Catastrophes
In these notes, I derive Thom’s “seven elementary catastrophes” in the physicist’s (rather than mathematician’s) language. I discuss their characteristic geometries and show physical applications. Several modern visualisations are included.
